The resource includes an Educator FAQ on ChatGPT's use, as well as learning prompts to support interested educators seeking ways to incorporate ChatGPT in learning environments or their own classroom planning. It also includes OpenAI's suggested uses for the AI chatbot, including generating lesson plans and quizzes, roleplaying conversations or debates, and mediating classroom hurdles for English language learners. Implied in OpenAI's guide is the expectation that educators maintain oversight over ChatGPT's use, suggesting that both teachers and students collaborate and share their ChatGPT conversations with each other as they explore the technology. The prompts function as primers for the AI chatbot that the educator can then offer as examples for students or fellow teachers, or send directly to students for their own use in assignments. The effects of space travel on our health pose substantial challenges to our future in the cosmos. Beyond Earth, astronauts literally lose bone and muscle while being exposed to potentially cancer-causing radiation. As they plan to go on longer trips—like to the moon and Mars, such as in NASA’s Artemis program—biologists need to prepare to keep these explorers safe on these extended voyages.  Part of that is understanding exactly how space changes our bodies, from the macroscopic scale of our organs all the way down to our microscopic cells. To that end, Swedish biologists used an experiment here on Earth to simulate what happens to a human’s immune system in microgravity, the “weightlessness” experienced by space travelers. In a new research paper, published last week in Science Advances, the study authors report significant genetic changes to these guardian cells.  Continued here Olive Oil Prices Surge as Persistent Drought Ravages Mediterranean Groves    As summer winds down in the verdant olive groves across southern Spain’s region of Andalusia, the tree branches typically bend down, heavy with ripening fruits. But this summer, Cristóbal Cano’s groves—25 acres in the city of Alcalá la Real near Granada, Spain—look light and nearly empty, as if the trees have already been harvested. Cano, like thousands of other producers in Andalusia, has battled two years of drought and high temperatures. He is secretary-general of the region’s small farmers union, and members have sent him photographs of trees with leaves that have folded and turned brown and olives that have withered. Unless autumn brings early and heavy rainfall, Cano says, “I will maybe have 10 percent of my normal yield.” Spain is the world’s largest olive oil producer, accounting for nearly half of global production. By some estimates, Andalusia accounts for the majority of the country’s output. What happens in Spain affects olive oil markets worldwide. In 2022 the country’s production was around half of its recent average. Without a lot of rain, and soon, the current drought and heat will knock the 2023 harvest down to similar levels—and global stocks will dwindle. Continued here
