Christina Tosi Was a Chef Fed Up With Fine Dining. It Inspired Her to Start Milk Bar. Here's How She Grew Her Business Milk Bar, the New York City-based bakery, became known for its pulled-from-the-grocery-store-shelf soft-serve flavors like cereal milk. The bakery has always been a direct-to-consumer business willing to deliver across the U.S., according to 41-year-old CEO Tosi. But when the pandemic hit, she wanted to go a step further, and now Milk Bar products can be found in more than 10,000 stores including Whole Foods, Target, and Costco.
When it comes to hiring and building teams, Tosi says she likes to let people follow their passions and interests. When Milk Bar first started, letting the math-inclined employee work the register or the former Apple Store employee handle the shipping because of their operational background were easy decisions.
